First Visit :: Comprehensive Consultation
As chiropractors in Docklands, we aim to make all new patients feel comfortable and heard. On you first visit to Docklands Chiropractic, you will sit down with a chiropractor and discuss your current health situation to assess whether you are a good candidate for Chiropractic care.
A Thorough Examination
If we think we can help we will conduct a thorough examination. In adults this may include imaging such as x-ray and occasionally CT or MRI scans. Such imaging is typically not required with children. This information helps us make a diagnosis and identify the cause(s) of your problem.
We will provide women with gowns for their first visit examination, however, we normally work through light comfortable clothing for most follow-up visits.
Treatment May Start
Depending on your presentation, treatment may start on this visit, although often the results from further tests are required before this can begin. You should allow 45 minutes for your first visit.
Second Visit :: The Results of Your Tests
By the time you return for your second visit we will usually have the results of your tests. We will explain these results in a way that is easy to understand and give you a written report.
We will tell you what we have found, what we can do to help, how long it may take and how much it will cost. Our practice enjoys high levels of patient satisfaction because we explain everything in advance. If we believe we can help then care typically begins on the second visit. You should allow 30-40 minutes for your second visit.
Regular Visit :: A Typical Visit
As well as discussing your progress, follow-up visits will involve repeating a few important tests that showed up from your initial examination. This way so we can continue to monitor your improvement.
Treatment may involve spinal adjustments – these are gentle and specific movements to the spine and are performed differently depending on your age and type of spinal problem. Other techniques may include extremity adjusting, cranial adjusting, various muscle techniques and organ reflex stimulation.
Some special follow-up visits may take up to 30 minutes. These include:
- Postural Balancing Visits – where you will learn your home exercise program
- Progressive Examinations – where a more detailed review of your progress is performed
- Wellness Assessment – where a more detailed testing of your Wellness Profile is performed
Re-training your Spine & Nervous System
Most follow-up visits though only take about 10-15 minutes. These visits are the foundation of your care and are all about re-training your spine and nervous system to function at a higher and healthier level.
We respect your time and in most cases will see you at or very close to your scheduled appointment time.
